The Challenges
Realizing the importance of accurately monitoring parked cars and collecting revenues, the client wanted a digital solution. They wanted to keep manual interventions at bay. So, they envisioned a web app to bring greater transparency and higher revenues in parking management.
At this stage, they contacted Capital Numbers. They got in touch with our team and stated their requirements. Their objective was to digitize parking management activities like:
- Identifying vehicles entering parking zones
- Recording vehicle details
- Generating parking tickets
- Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to violators in those zones, etc.
The focus was to avoid manual data captures. They wanted to automate data captures. By automating vehicle data captures, the client wished hundreds of parking management companies would take the complexity out of revenue management.
As a result, Capital Numbers had to develop an app that captures vehicle data automatically. We had to make it configurable to help hundreds of companies customize it to their needs. We also had to ensure the app remains modular and scalable to perform well during peak times. In addition, we had to make it compatible with third-party platforms to extract vehicle data from external sites.
Solutions We Offered
Capital Numbers appointed two backend developers, one frontend developer, and one designer to handle the project. We examined the client’s needs and began the project by implementing Laravel microservices architecture.
We used Laravel microservices as it divides the system into smaller, independent units, each of which handles a separate set of workloads, thus leading to workload distribution and optimal performance during peak usage.
Secondly, we incorporated role-based access control and data partitioning mechanisms within the Laravel backend. We did this to ensure data isolation for every parking management company using the app.
Thirdly, we implemented robust security methods within the Laravel backend to handle sensitive information about vehicle owners. We implemented custom authorization logic to restrict access to sensitive data around user roles in the app. Moreover, we used Laravel's CSRF protection to combat common web app vulnerabilities and attacks.
We used Laravel's service container and dependency injection to encapsulate third-party service logic. We did this to enable seamless data exchange between our app and external services from where vehicle details would flow in.
Next, we implemented the ANPR technology for automatic number plate detection when vehicles enter parking zones. We also integrated automation scripts to identify vehicle owner’s data and process parking tickets online. Additionally, we powered up the app with statistical tools to reflect the captured data through charts and graphs. Our experts used HTML and jQuery to handle all the frontend elements. We stored all application data using MySQL.
Once we completed every implementation accurately, we conducted thorough tests to ensure a flawless delivery. We then hosted the solution in Amazon EC2 for its enormous scalability.

Automatic Number Plate Detection
The ANPR technology helps digitally track entries and exits in the parking zones and generates tickets online, bringing 100% transparency to parking management.
Whitelist Entry Management
The application keeps track of all ‘whitelisted’ license plates and triggers alerts for every blacklist entry that doesn't have a dedicated entry to a specific parking lot.
Automated Notices to Infringers
The app automatically issues PCNs to infringers who violate parking rules or predetermined guidelines.
Improved PCN Management
The app reflects all PCNs issued within specific parking lots, thus keeping all criminal activities under supervision.
Appeal Processes
In case of a wrong PCN issuance, the app allows the individual to contest the PCN and work toward dispute resolution.
Live Records of Parking Data
Real-time records of all PCNs, whitelisters, and blacklisters bring efficiency to parking management.
Debt Recovery
Moreover, if a vehicle owner fails to pay their parking ticket on time, the app automatically sends the amount to the debt recovery section for organizations to keep monitoring it.
