Redefining Children’s Dental Care Through SaaS Innovation

The client was on a mission to help dental clinics better manage kids’ oral health data. The need arose because multiple dental clinics struggled to maintain paper-based records of children’s dental health reports.

Clinics found it hard to sift through piles of paper to determine when a young kid’s last cleaning or whitening was. The data was there somewhere - but buried in a maze of paperwork that offered no clear path to informed decisions.

The client was on the hunt for a next-gen dental health app. They wanted a SaaS platform that could give clinics the freedom to log in from anywhere, ditching the hassle of on-site installations.

But this wasn’t just another SaaS app that had to be launched. It had to scale effortlessly and handle a growing volume of data, such as patient profiles, flossing routines, toothbrushing stats, appointments, and recall alerts, alongside transaction data like payments receivable/payable.

Moreover, the platform needed flexible subscription options to fit the needs of dental clinics of all sizes, from cozy neighborhood practices to sprawling multi-location networks. So, the pricing module in the SaaS product had to be flexible to cater to various clinics, big or small.

Security was non-negotiable. With children’s oral health data in play, GDPR compliance had to be airtight, safeguarding every piece of information.

The storm of challenges pushed the client to rethink their approach. This is where Capital Numbers stepped in to make this multifaceted vision of the client a reality, shaping the future of children’s dental health with SaaS innovation.

Capital Numbers’ work began with a key objective: to reinvent how dental care for kids was managed, moving away from outdated paper-based programs to an all-in-one digital platform. To this end, our team created an intuitive dashboard for dental clinics, allowing them to effortlessly track everything - from children's profiles and brushing habits to appointment schedules and recall exams. We built this dashboard to give clinics a complete view of each child’s dental health data at their fingertips.

We took it a step further by building a parallel dashboard for parents, enabling them to track their child’s dental progress - everything from early signs of cavities and dietary habits to hydration levels and mouth-washing routines. Parents could use this dashboard to stay engaged in their child’s oral health journey and take swift action before dental health issues escalate into something big.

We also introduced interactive charts and progress timelines, offering clinics and parents a visual snapshot of each child’s care process. To make things even easier, we streamlined the process with detailed "add child" forms to let parents quickly update their child's data - name, date of birth, dental history, etc. A critical feature here was the debouncer for these forms. We engineered it to eliminate rapid, accidental clicks, ensuring that only the final, intended input was captured. This small but vital addition helped reduce unintended inputs by parents, lowering server strain and keeping the system smooth.

We also turned dental care into a game, letting kids earn points for good oral hygiene while parents received detailed PDF summaries of the points earned. Behind the fun lay a robust system, flawlessly tracking every reward to ensure no point was missed. And with GDPR-compliant security woven in, we safeguarded sensitive data every step of the way.

Because no two dental clinics were alike, we crafted flexible subscription models for single-location clinics and multi-chain dental businesses. We also developed an innovative Admin Panel to provide the client seamless control over all clinics, parent accounts, and patient data from one unified interface.

Currently hosted in the client’s server, the resulting SaaS product empowers 100s of dental clinics, parents, and kids to take charge of oral health with ease and fun. Impressed by Capital Numbers’ work, the client entrusted us with including future upgrades. We’re now requested to add macro dashboards to analyze cavity prevention rates, interdental cleaning scores, and treatment plan adherence, elevating insights and control.
