The client’s journey began with big ambitions, but an outdated hotel booking website held them back at every turn. A design-focused hotel booking website is meant to maximize bookings, but instead, it was tangled in rigid block systems that stifled creativity in its WordPress-powered booking website.

The HTML structure, relic-like in its design, made implementing modern striking designs nearly impossible. Every attempt to break free with custom CSS felt like patching cracks in a dam.

But the challenges didn’t end with aesthetics. Behind the scenes, outdated JavaScript functionalities - sliders, accordions, grids, tabs, etc. - wreaked havoc. They bloated the DOM, slowed page load times, and created a digital experience that dragged instead of delighted. This sluggish performance hampered hotel booking rates in an industry where speed is everything.

It became clear that this wasn’t just a website that needed tweaking - it was a roadblock to hotel bookings. A complete overhaul of the outdated block systems was mandatory.

The only way forward was to leave behind the old constraints and build a platform capable of delivering speed, flexibility, and the stunning designs the hotel industry demanded. It was time to rewrite the rules and create a digital presence that not only met modern standards but set new ones.

The client chose Capital Numbers as their design-thinking partner for this ambitious overhaul. We had to go beyond a design revamp and embrace true experience transformation - crafting a solution that blended functionality with artistry.

We initiated a transformative overhaul of this WordPress website by replacing the rigid block systems with dynamic block builders. We optimized code for each modular block builder to give up to 30 hotel businesses the freedom to craft layouts that responded intuitively to their needs.

Once we fixed the aesthetic issues, we focused on the massive DOM bloat caused by outdated JavaScript elements - hero slider, accordion, gallery, column, grid, card module, 50/50 module, form, masonry, map, links, and tabs. These elements piled up like digital clutter, overloading the DOM tree. Each time a browser processed the DOM, it consumed additional memory and CPU resources, which led to jerky animations, delayed clicks, and even page crashes on devices.

Capital Numbers tackled this head-on by meticulously refactoring the outdated JavaScript code to create lightweight, modular versions of various JavaScript elements - slider, grid, masonry, form, accordion, gallery, and more. This approach helped us achieve improved performance with far less impact on the DOM. We further used lazy-loading and asynchronous execution to ensure the platform evolved to the growing needs of the hotel industry.

Our modernization strategy also involved revamping the HTML/CSS structure with HTML5 best practices and replacing CSS with SCSS for better scalability. This streamlined approach opened up new possibilities for creating visually stunning designs. We added an advanced image optimization plugin to ensure blazing speed when loading images across devices.
