Yet, the client’s eCommerce platform, powered by WordPress, didn’t have the mechanism to display real-time prices. Customers looking for gold bars during a price dip only saw an outdated, higher price on the portal. This disconnect didn’t just frustrate users - it hampered conversions and investment decisions.

Without real-time pricing, customers aiming to buy or sell metals like gold or silver were left in limbo, unsure whether they were getting a fair deal. Buyers hesitated, fearing they were overpaying or underselling in a volatile market such as precious metals, where every second counts. This failure led to missed opportunities.

Compounding the issue was the portal's cluttered product display. With hundreds of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium items poorly organized without filtration options, users struggled to find what they needed. For instance, a buyer who searched for a 10-gram gold coin often ended up scrolling through irrelevant options without being able to filter or sort items properly. The lack of intuitive categorization and filtration led to cart abandonment.

To make matters worse, slow page loading speeds added another layer of friction. In an industry driven by volatility, slow page loads doubled the problem, disrupting real-time trades and leading to revenue loss.

Faced with high stakes, the client turned to Capital Numbers to help them reimagine the portal. Our mission was clear: integrate real-time pricing, revamp product displays and filters, and supercharge page speeds - crafting a solution to help the client reclaim their edge in the market.

Capital Numbers tackled the first hurdle by fixing the lack of real-time, dynamic pricing. Our team built a strong WordPress backend using advanced APIs to fetch real-time metal prices from a trusted third-party source.

A MySQL-powered database served as the backbone for storing live prices. For example, if gold prices shifted from $1,900.25 to $1,905.75 per ounce, the WordPress portal instantly fetched this data from the third-party source and stored the information in the backend, leaving no room for outdated information.

The bigger challenge, however, was reflecting these live prices with accurate calculations across the portal. To address this, we engineered an intelligent synchronization system. This system employed advanced conditional logic and mathematical calculations to align live market rates with the product catalog, updating prices every 10 seconds.

For example, if silver was priced at $24.85 per ounce, our algorithm updated a 16.08-ounce bar to $399.59. By mapping real-time data to product attributes such as weight and form, the logic ensured that every product price displayed was accurate and dynamic, down to decimal values.

Limited filtering options were another challenge we had to tackle. Our team changed the filtering mechanism by introducing smart, multi-layered filters. Using advanced features, we ensured customers could quickly filter and sort items like a 10-gram gold coin or a 1kg silver bar based on parameters like - the refinery, form, weight, price, rating, popularity, and availability.

Performance was another challenge, with pages taking 7-8 seconds to load. So, we optimized images, enabled Gzip compression, validated Content Delivery Network (CDN), and deferred non-critical JavaScript code. The result? Lightning-fast page load times of just 2 seconds.

We bridged all gaps and revamped the portal with a powerful tech stack: Elementor for design, Mega Menu for navigation, Yoast for SEO, WooCommerce for functionality, and Cloudflare for improved performance and content delivery across web and mobile. Together, these tools transformed the platform into a user-friendly eCommerce powerhouse.
