The digital platform was battling a storm of challenges, with performance bottlenecks leading the charge. During peak traffic, load times crawled, leaving 200,000+ monthly users frustrated and causing drop-off rates to spike by around 40%.
For a global audience, consuming content at lightning speed was crucial. Yet, latency issues and sluggish load times across devices and networks often bogged down the experience for users accessing the platform from all over the world.
The pain didn’t stop there. Editors were shackled by a rigid CMS, unable to create dynamic content without heavy technical intervention - a process that slowed productivity by over 30%.
In addition, the lack of real-time caching and purging kept outdated or incorrect content in the cache, leading users to see old versions of pages. Without real-time purging, the cache became a bottleneck rather than a performance booster, serving stale data instead of the latest content.

Editors found themselves constantly fighting a battle, manually clearing cache or implementing workarounds, which drained their time. So, smart caching and purging had to be implemented to ensure changes were reflected in real-time, even under heavy loads.
Tackling these pain points demanded nothing short of reimagining the platform. The client turned to Capital Numbers for a game-changing solution. They envisioned a dynamic CMS allowing editors to add captivating content with unparalleled ease and deliver a cutting-edge architecture fine-tuned for lightning-fast, sub-second load times, regardless of where users accessed it.
The work wasn’t just a routine performance tweak. It demanded multi-layered enhancements, from precision caching to intelligent routing, which had to be meticulously engineered to elevate the platform’s speed.
Capital Numbers started by redefining the platform architecture using a headless WordPress CMS with custom Gutenberg blocks. The block-based approach ensured content creation became an easy drag-and-drop experience, allowing editors to craft dynamic layouts without technical limitations.
At the backend, we decoupled the system with Laravel and REST APIs. This helped isolate the backend processes for heightened security while our frontend team worked on responsive interfaces with React and Vue.js.
We introduced a multi-layered caching strategy for latency that worked like a finely tuned engine. Redis caching handled API responses with lightning speed, minimizing database load and ensuring data flowed effortlessly between WordPress and Laravel. Varnish added another layer of brilliance by caching full HTML pages in memory, slashing server response times, and enabling sub-second page loads.

But the real game-changer was configuring Varnish’s request management capabilities. We did this configuration to introduce a new level of intelligence that could analyze incoming requests and route them to the appropriate Laravel or WordPress services. This dynamic routing ensured that each request was handled by the most efficient resource available, maximizing system performance.
To maintain razor-sharp efficiency, we implemented real-time auto-purging mechanisms. Any new content triggered the instant purging of outdated cached data, ensuring users always accessed the most current information.
By combining auto-purging, layered caching, and intelligent routing, we created a platform that wasn’t just fast but intuitively optimized for editors and users alike.
We implemented Docker containerization to wrap it all together, making deployments smoother. By integrating a CI/CD pipeline powered by Git and Jenkins, we automated testing and rollouts, dramatically slashing release cycles.
