The Client

This is a cutting-edge candidate screening portal that connects the recruiters with the best fit candidate matches from across the globe. It helps employers find the most qualified full-time, part-time, on-site, flexible, and remote talent with just a few clicks. In this post-pandemic era, this portal makes it easy for companies to source and sort out remote-first talent quickly.

The Challenge

Capital Numbers’ goal was to enhance the backend system of this portal. The idea was to automate candidate screening. We had to help recruiters spend less time sifting through hundreds of resumes.

For this, we needed to embed a job matching algorithm that would:

  • Parse all uploaded resume data (e.g., work experience, education, etc.)
  • Compare the data with open job posts in the portal
  • Highlight percentage of the best matches
  • Source candidates without bias

Simply put, Capital Numbers had to apply rule-based logic to unearth the top CVs that human eyes may otherwise miss.

We also needed to use a cron scheduler to automate repetitive tasks. Besides, we had to add go-to payment solutions for the admin to channel revenues through membership subscriptions.

In essence, we aimed to develop a community network that helps companies pre-screen high-quality resumes and allows candidates to land their desired jobs.

Over the years, Capital Numbers has had extensive experience in handling community-based portals. So, when we took up this project, we were confident about making this online professional community enterprise-grade.

Our Project Manager put together a highly competent team to work on this project exclusively. We started by creating a clear-cut priority list. The list involved sign-ups, candidate mapping, notifications, algorithms, cron tasks, payments, etc. We aimed to implement each element to step up the backend architecture.

As for the technologies, our experts chose the following:

We selected Node.js because of its ecosystem of open-source modules that improve app quality. Plus, Node allows developers to write code on both frontend and backend with ease - simplifying development.

Our team also leveraged React.js because it’s highly component-driven. Besides, React offers code stability and comes with an extensive developer toolset for creating high-performing apps.

We went ahead with MongoDB because it uses sharding to tackle extensive data without slowing down the system.

For added flexibility within the app, our team used REST APIs. REST also helped us store vast amounts of data related to candidates, employers, and job posts.

We used Braintree to streamline money transfers on a global scale. We also embedded PayPal, a risk-free way to send and receive money online with 100% data protection.

Eventually, we deployed the app on AWS. With AWS, we knew that we would provide great load-balancing capacities even during a massive traffic influx.

Capital Numbers skillfully handled each integration and successfully released this portal, a modern recruiters’ guide. The platform also serves as a candidate’s marketplace where each talent finds lucrative opportunities.

With regular refinement, our developers perfected the platform. As a result, the final product is a well-optimized portal that finds the right talent for those hard-to-fill positions.

Job Matching Algorithm

We customized a job matching algorithm to show the total percentage of the potential matches to open jobs.

Rule-based Logic

Our engineers worked hard on predefined rules to extract user inputs (like job skills, experience, etc.) and match them with relevant vacancies.

Easy sign-ups

Our portal makes it easy for all users to fill up their details and create their profiles in minutes. We added social logins too for all user groups that include:

  • Job recruiters who can post jobs and hire talent by paying a fee
  • Job seekers who can explore job posts and connect with recruiters for free

Push Notifications

We enabled push notifications to alert employers about potential matches and even notify candidates about new vacancies - giving them a first-mover advantage.

Cron Jobs

By implementing cron, we could automate repetitive alerts related to subscriptions, job post expiry, etc., saving man-hours.

Secure Payment Solutions

Our payment solutions have helped hundreds of recruiters across time zones seamlessly pay fees for every new job post and hire.

Product Monetization

Our robust payment integrations have also allowed the admin to build new revenue paths with recurrent cashless billing.

Access Up to Five Candidate Types

Employers can use this portal to get matched to five types of candidates: remote, on-site, flexible, part-time, and full-time.

Custom-coded Backend Solutions

Our custom backend solutions currently help recruiters tap all those needle-in-a-haystack candidates from large talent pools.
