Google Gives Higher Ranking to ‘Mobile-Friendly’ Sites

Here is a grand news for those who have a mobile friendly website. From today, the search engine giant, Google, will offer higher ranking to sites with a ‘mobile-friendly’ website.

As a result many websites will “disappear” from Google when people use smartphones or tablets. The tech giant declared earlier that it has made several big changes in its search algorithm which will affect the way it ranks searches.

Google further confirmed that desktop only sites will although show up in searches but will lose its ranking drastically.

“As more people use mobile devices to access the internet, our algorithms have to adapt to these usage patterns,” a post in Google’s official blog said.

This may be harmful for many businesses, particularly small retailers, who do not have a mobile friendly or responsive website.

Earlier in February, Google announces on its Webmaster Central Blog that it will make changes in its search algorithm to show up “mobile-friendly” websites on top search results.

“This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results,” Google mentioned in the blog post.
